Introductie
Justine Ruitenberg (1970) obtained in 1994 a master degree in Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. The fist half year of 1994 she studied Sociology at the University of Strasbourg, France (Erasmus program). In 1994/1995 she followed a postdoctoral course for teaching political and social education, at the VU University Amsterdam. In 1995/1996 she received a second masters degree in Comparative Labour Studies at the University of Warwick, UK.
After a short period of working as a teacher and doing freelance research, she started in 1998 to work as a policy maker at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in The Hague. First, she worked at the Directory of Labour Conditions, in 2002 she continued at the Directory of Labour Market Policy. Since 2005 she works as a project manager of research projects on the effectiveness of the Dutch social security system for the Inspectorate of Work and Income of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
In 2008 she started doing a PhD at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies (AIAS). The central question of her thesis is: To what extent can micro socialisation processes explain the current differences among Dutch women’s gender and work attitudes, work preferences and labour market behaviour? She employs quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to answer the central question. Paul de Beer (AIAS) and Christien Brinkgreve (University Utrecht) are the promoters of her research. She expects to finish her research in 2012.
